The film is an adaptation of the ancient Greek poem written by Homer, following Odysseus’ ten year journey home after the Trojan War. The upcoming film will feature well known actors such as Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, and Anne Hathaway.
Murphy discussed the upcoming film and how he won't be making an appearance whilst speaking to Variety Magazine at Varietys Toronto Film Festival studio recently.
Murphy has appeared in six of Nolan's previous films, including most recently, the Oscar award winning film Oppenheimer, which won two Oscars at last years ceremony.
When asked about the upcoming project, Murphy responded with "Is there a trailer?" as he said that he had not seen it yet. In July a trailer for the film was released in cinemas, however an official trailer was not released online, a tactic used by Nolan to encourage people to get back into cinema theatres.
Nolan's The Odyssey will have it's cinematic release on July 17th 2026.
Murphy was also asked about the Peaky Blinders movie to which he responded with “Oh I can’t tell you.” However, director Steven Knight confirmed in an interview with Times Radio that the film will be released in "about a year" and the anticipated film "won’t be the end," of Peaky Blinders, perhaps hinting at another series.
