Countrywide Alert Comes Into Force Now

A countrywide alert for people to remain indoors comes into force now.

All trains and buses have finished for the day and remaining flight services at Shannon Airport will finish at 6pm.

A red alert is in place for the entire country and both motorists and pedestrians are advised not to venture outside until at least midday tomorrow.

Although the main routes have been gritted to ensure emergency services can operate, road crews will not be out again until after the blizzard has passed.

Public transport has been severely affected with Dublin Bus and Luas saying that there will be no services tomorrow.

Trains will not operate until Saturday. Shannon Airport will close from 6pm and flights are not expected to resume until Saturday.

Flights at Dublin aiport have been suspended and the Airport also won’t open tomorrow.

Cork Airport remains closed and flights are not likely to resume until Saturday.
