A special vinyl version of David Bowie and Mick Jagger's classic 'Dancing In The Street' is to be released to mark the single's 40th anniversary.
Speaking about this single in a statement, Mick Jagger said: “We had such a laugh doing ‘Dancing In The Street’ with both the song recorded in the studio and the video done in one day. Remarkable how we pulled it off, really".
“The video is hilarious to watch now. We enjoyed camping it up and trying to impersonate each other’s moves, making it up as we went along. It was the only time David and myself collaborated on anything, which is a real shame".
The pair joined forces to cover this Motown classic in 1985, raising money for Live Aid. The music video was also screened just before Bowie took to the stage at the iconic Wembley event. Proceeds from the duo's cover went towards famine relief.
Arriving on August 27 that year, the single remained number one in the UK singles chart for four weeks, reaching Number Seven in the US' Billboard Hot 100.
'Dancing In The Street' was initially written by Marvin Gaye, William Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter.
Now, Parlophone Records have announced that they have reissued the cover on limited edition white 12" vinyl, arriving on August 29, two days after the track's anniversary. You can pre order this single here.
This version merges all of the song's mixes for the first time, while 30% of the retail price from its sale will go towards the Band Aid Charitable Trust.
