David Bowie’s lost 2001 “Toy”” album is to finally get officially released. The album was due for initial release back in 1999, but was put aside following a disagreement between the singer and his then-label Virgin.

This album will feature reshaped and re-recorded versions of some of the singer’s earliest songs. The album had previously been leaked online back in 2011.

It was also announced that the box set “David Bowie 5. Brilliant Adventure (1992-2011)” would also be released. This is the latest box set exploring the music icon’s incredible career.

“David Bowie Brilliant Adventure 1992-2011”

“An amber of joy”

Speaking on “Toy” and the 20 years that have elapsed since its creation, Bowie’s co-producer Mark Plati released this statement.

“‘Toy’ is like a moment in time captured in an amber of joy, fire and energy. It’s the sound of people happy to be playing music. David revisited and re-examined his work from decades prior through prisms of experience and fresh perspective – a parallel not lost on me as I now revisit it twenty years later”.

“From time to time, he used to say ‘Mark, this is our album’ – I think because he knew I was so deeply in the trenches with him on that journey”, he continued. “I’m happy to finally be able to say it now belongs to all of us”.

Back in July it was confirmed that an apartment that David Bowie once live in sold for $16million. More on that here.
