Irish designer Robyn Lynch has partnered with Guinness to create a brand-new staff uniform for the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, marking the attraction’s 25th anniversary. The collaboration honors Irish craftsmanship, the heritage of the iconic stout, and the tactile, functional aesthetic of traditional workwear.

Commissioned by Guinness and introduced as part of the milestone celebration, the new uniforms are constructed from denim, garment-dyed, and finished with laser-etched detailing. Subtle nods to the brand’s legacy are woven throughout, including the Guinness harp, which appears as a recurring motif, and screen-printed aprons featuring a gradient effect that reflects the familiar brown-to-black cascade of a freshly poured pint.

Lynch said the partnership came about naturally. “I was contacted by Rosie and Greg from Hens Teeth… when the email came through I was genuinely excited because it felt like a project that made complete sense for me,” she explained.

Design Rooted in Heritage

To begin the project, Lynch immersed herself in the Guinness Archive, pairing historical research with personal influences. “I always lean on primary research for my collections, and a lot of my references often trace back to family,” she noted. The designer explored everything from vintage Guinness materials to her father’s bakery uniforms, channeling the spirit of everyday Irish workwear.

Her goal, she said, was to create a uniform that authentically reflected the Storehouse experience. “It is an educational space where you get a sense of the process and the craft. It felt right that the uniforms leaned into that tactile, functional, workwear language rather than polished hospitality attire,” Lynch added. “From there, the design followed the function.”

A Contemporary Expression of Irish Craft

The final collection pays tribute to both heritage and modern Irish design. Key pieces include:

  • Organic cotton T-shirts with reflective embroidered harps, a signature motif from Lynch’s main collections.

  • Knitwear produced in Ireland, offering comfort while showcasing national craftsmanship.

  • Gradient-printed aprons, symbolizing the visual transformation of a settling pint of Guinness.

A special look was also created for the Guinness Connoisseur Team, inspired by archival brewery lab coats and reinterpreted as off-white, short-sleeve cotton workwear shirts with reflective harp embroidery designed to interact with photography.

Team leaders will wear an elevated variation featuring tailored wool pieces in a neutral palette, embellished with tonal logos and refined textural details, blending functionality with quiet luxury.

The collaboration stands as a celebration of Guinness’s storied history, the craft of Irish garment-making, and Lynch’s distinct design ethos—an intersection of nostalgia, functionality, and contemporary style.
