Donal Skehan has revealed his fool-proof plan of stopping his best friend Arthur from beating him in the book charts.

The friends and podcast co-hosts both have books coming out this month — Donal’s 13th cookbook, Real Time Recipes, and Arthur’s debut Little Arty and the Happy Dance — both this week and next week, with the friends set to turn rivals for the next few weeks.

Ahead of his book’s release on Thursday (October 9), Donal revealed that ‘nobody is gonna get in the way’ of him promoting his book — with him pretending to stuff a tied-up Arthur in the boot of his car to prevent him from promoting his own book.

After closing the boot of his car, a cheery Donal turns to the camera and says, ‘You know people always ask me how it feels when your friend decides to release a book on the same month your brand new cookbook comes out. And to me, it really doesn’t matter.’

Captioning the hilarious video, Donal wrote, ‘It’s Real Time Recipes publication week! The new book is out on Thursday – nobody is going to get in the way! Take no prisoners- well, maybe one!’ referring to his now detained friend.

Arthur must’ve escaped, however, commenting that his book would be out just one week later.

‘LITTLE ARTY and THE HAPPY DANCE coming out October 16th, who needs to cook when you can DANCE, right you gorgeous people,’ Arthur commented alongside a series of laughing emojis. ‘LET’S DO THIS.’

Arthur’s husband Brian Dowling also thought the video was brilliant, commenting ‘let’s go!!’ alongside a laughing emoji, while another commented ‘you guys are golden!!’

The lads recently launched the new season of their hilarious podcast, Let’s Do This, earlier this year, and have no plans on slowing down — hoping to bring the podcast on the road and potentially do something together on TV.

‘We would love, love, love to bring something like Saturday Night Takeaway to Ireland. Donal and I think we’re Ireland’s answer to Ant & Dec; better looking of course,’ Arthur joked.

‘There’s a gap in Irish television for something fun, and just genuine family fun, family shows like we grew up watching when we were younger with everyone around the telly watching every Saturday at the same time,’ Donal added. ‘Some good old-fashioned family fun.’
