Donald Trump has thanked North Korea’s leader for freeing three American citizens from prison camps, as he welcomed them back to the US.
The US President and the First Lady were among the VIPs up in the middle of the night to meet the men at an airbase near Washington DC.
They arrived in Alaska in the early hours, after travelling with the US Secretary of State.
They were released ahead of high-level talks between the two countries about nuclear disarmament – which Mr Trump is very positive about:
“My proudest achievement…. and this is a part of it…. will be when we denuclearise that entire peninsula… this is what people have been waiting for – for a long time – no one thought we could be on this track in terms of speed.”
