Two people have been arrested after gardaí seized almost €200,000 worth of drugs during an operation in Dublin 8.
The seizure was made on Wednesday as part of Operation Tara, the national anti-drugs strategy targeting drug trafficking networks and street-level dealing.
Members of the DMR South Central Drug Unit carried out searches at a residential property in the area, where they recovered approximately €175,000 worth of suspected alprazolam tablets along with €23,000 worth of suspected cannabis.
The total estimated value of the drugs seized is around €198,000.
The substances have now been sent for further forensic analysis.
A man and a woman, both aged in their 40s, were arrested in connection with the seizure.
In a statement, An Garda Síochána said: “A man and a woman, both aged in their 40s, were arrested in connection with the seizure.”
The pair are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Garda stations in Dublin.
Gardaí have confirmed that investigations into the operation are ongoing.
