The new Elvis Presley AI hologram show is more like time travel and less like Abba Voyage, according to show’s creator.
Andrew McGuinness, founder of Layered Reality who created the “Elvis Evolution” show, said: “You’re going to be stepping in to intricate sets that make you feel like you’ve time travelled.”
McGuinness told BBC News that the immersive experience involves interacting with actors and walking in Presley’s famous “shoes.”
Fans of “The King” then watch a performance of an AI powered Elvis hologram.
Presley’s estate provided the show runners with live footage, home videos and photographs to make the music icons likeliness as authentic as possible.
“It’s more about how we want people to feel, we use temperature, taste and smell to make people feel like they are in Memphis in 1958,” the entrepreneur told the BBC.
“Abba Voyage had the luxury of capturing live performers, but we’re not that fortunate,” he said.
“The AI generates an authentic version of Elvis, born of original material… It allows you to do new things with him,” he added.
McGuinness founded Layered Reality in 2017 with the goal of spearheading a new form of entertainment.
“People didn’t want to just watch a story play out in front of them, they wanted to be part of it,” he said.
“Theatre and very talented actors make that personal, the tech allows us to achieve things that otherwise would be impossible.”
Elvis Evolution is still in development with the new holographic musician due to make his stage debut in November in London.
“He’s lines of code for now, he’s not walking around Harpenden, buying a coffee from Gail’s.”
