There are the four words that have been muttered non-stop for the past few weeks, ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’, not only has the the film been a huge success, so has the soundtrack.
Yes, people can’t get enough of the dominating billionaire with his room of tricks and whips. The movie earned millions even before it was released, breaking pre-sale ticket records.
It has reportedly taken in €240 million worldwide since it opened on Valentine’s Day weekend.
Now the ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ soundtrack has stormed to the top of the charts in the States, going to number one on the Billboard Soundtrack Chart. According to Republic Records, it has sold over 250,000 units in America, making it the most successful soundtrack in over five years.
It beat Michael Jackson’s ‘Is This It’ soundtrack released in 2009, for most sales in an opening week and according to AOL is “the best debut for a multi-artist compilation soundtrack since 2005.”
The ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ album features artists such as Annie Lennox, Danny Elfman, Frank Sinatra and The Rolling Stones.
Annie Lennox sings a cover of “I Put A Spell on You (Fifty Shades of Grey), which she sang with Irish singer-songwriter Hozier at this year’s Grammys.
Legendary film composer Danny Elfman, who scored the theme for ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, has two songs ‘Ana and Christian’ and ‘Did That Hurt?’
The 1957 Frank Sinatra tune ‘Witchcraft’ is included, as well as The Rolling Stones’ ‘Beast Of Burden’ from their 1978 album Some Girls.
