Over the weekend, Foo Fighters performed two sold out shows at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium, where they were joined by two special guests on stage.
While on stage, Dave Grohl picked out a fan in the audience who was holding up a sign, challenging the band to let him play a song if he could complete a Rubik's cube. The audience were led to believe that he had completed this task, as the young man jammed through the track 'Rope' with the band.
Afterwards, the fan revealed his name was Max, to which Grohl revealing their personal connection: “I know your name is Max because it’s your 18th birthday and you’re my daughters boyfriend”. The sold-out crowd then proceeded to sing him ‘Happy Birthday’".
The next show saw a fan who was dressed as a giant pack of Mentos, spotted by Grohl, who invited him on stage to sing with Foo Fighters from the B stage. The fan was dressed in this way, as a tribute to the band's Footos branding, in their classic music video for their early track, 'Big Me'.
“When s*** like this happens, that means this is the night of our lives, so thank you,” Grohl told the audience later on.
Following this, the fan, who was named Marc, aged 31, told the Liverpool Echo: “The photographer spotted me and started posting about it on Instagram, then the Foo Fighters reposted the photo and when the time came for ‘Big Me’, I think the whole crowd of people made some noise so they would see me".
He added: “It was awesome. This is my dream. This is my f****** dream. In my head I was repeating ‘keep calm, keep calm’. I didn’t want to make a fool of myself while living out my dream. I am still processing it".
