Gardai have arrested a man after a teenager was assaulted with a samurai sword in Dundalk earlier today.

According to reports, gardaí attended the scene in the Castletown Road area of the town at roughly 2.10 pm.

That’s where a young male incurred serious injuries in what is understood to have been a row between a number of youths.

Gardaí said in a statement that, “Three males entered a house armed with what’s believed to be a samurai sword and allegedly assaulted another male.”

The injured man was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda Hospital by ambulance where his condition is described as stable,

It is believed he suffered injuries to his arm. One man was arrested by gardai and taken to Dundalk Garda Station.

The weapon was not found and Garda investigations are ongoing.
