Gardaí have launched an investigation after the body of a 35-year-old man was discovered at a recycling centre in Clondalkin, west Dublin, with the circumstances surrounding his death now being treated as suspicious.
The body of Andrew Haire was found at the facility at around 9pm on Friday.
According to RTÉ, the results of a post-mortem examination have been inconclusive, and further examinations are expected to determine the cause of death.
Investigators believe Mr Haire, who had experienced homelessness, may have climbed into a commercial waste bin before it was transported to the recycling centre.
Gardaí said Mr Haire had recently been availing of welfare and homeless services in Dublin and Cork, and had travelled between Cork, Kilkenny and Dublin during the week leading up to his death.
A family liaison officer has been appointed to support his relatives as the investigation continues.
An incident room has been established at Lucan Garda Station, where detectives are coordinating enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
Anyone who may have seen Mr Haire in the days before his death, or who has information about his movements, is asked to contact Lucan Garda Station or any Garda station.
