Gene Gallagher, son of Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, and his band VILLANELLE have announced a headline UK tour set to kick off this December, alongside the release of their debut single, ‘Hinge.

The tour launches at McChuills in Glasgow on 4th December and will include stops at The Castle Hotel in Manchester and a hometown show at The Lexington in London, giving fans across the UK a chance to catch the band live. Tickets go on sale 17th September at 9am.

“Hinge” is a grunge-inspired track that channels the raw energy of ‘90s rock, with clear nods to bands like Nirvana. Frontman Gene Gallagher explained: “Hinge is about paranoia derived from sleepless nights. I was probably hungover when I wrote it.” Guitarist Ben Taylor added: “Hinge is just simple and high energy. Anyone can play it, but no one can play it like us.”

The band, which also features Jack Schiavo on bass and Andrew Richmond on drums, have already built a following playing shows around the UK, including opening for Gene’s father, Liam Gallagher, on the Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary dates in 2024.

Speaking to NME, Schiavo described the band’s sound as a mix of grunge, shoegaze, punk, and alternative rock: “Where we meet is this mix of grunge, shoegaze, punk and alternative rock. Ben’s influences lean toward English alternative rock, mine toward ‘60s and ‘70s rock, and Gene’s toward ‘90s American rock bands. In the middle is where we all interact.”

With an EP already in the works, VILLANELLE are making it clear they’re ready to bring their own high-energy rock to stages across the UK this winter.
