The Irish Hairdressers Federation is calling for the opening of hair salons to be brought forward a phase to avoid a surge in black-market services.

According to the Government’s Roadmap announced by the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar last Friday, the reopening of hairdressers is in Phase 4 which commences on July 20th as they aren’t deemed an essential service.

The IHF are calling for salons to be moved into phase 3, which commences on June 29th  due to fears that some hairdressers may be tempted to call to people’s homes now that the travel restrictions have been extended, which could increase the spread of Covid-19 in the community.

Hairdressers started to open this week with restrictions in countries including Spain and Germany after weeks of lockdown.
