The heartbroken family of a young girl who died in a single vehicle collision in Dublin last week, have made an emotional funeral request in her memory.
Leah Carrick, aged in her 20s, was killed in a collision between the Snugborough Road, Cappagh Road roundabouts in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15, just after midnight on Wednesday.
In an emotional death notice, Carrick's family, who described her as a "beautiful girl", confirmed her tragic death.
“In the early hours of the 26th August 2026, our beloved Leah died following a tragic accident", they said.
Leah was also described as the “darling daughter” of “heartbroken mother” Alyson and much loved sister of Jamie and Rachel. The heartbroken family also includes her nanny Anne, cousin Gemma, aunt Cali and her husband, Miley, extended family and "a wide circle of friends".
Leah's funeral will take place at St Josephs' Church at 11am, East Wall tomorrow morning at 11am, having reposed at the Fanagan-Kirwan Funeral Home on Fairview Strand.
Ahead of the funeral, the family have made an emotional request to mourners to help them pay tribute to Leah.
“Leah’s family ask that you wear [bright] colours in memory of her short but beautiful life", they said.
According to the Irish Sun, several friends have since paid tribute to Leah Carrick following her tragic death.
“Absolutely heartbroken. Not seeing your name pop up on my phone anymore is going to be a hard pill to swallow", wrote one friend. “My deepest condolences to Leah’s family and friends. I’m going to miss you kid".
Another person shared: “Thinking of you all, Leah was a beautiful girl. May she RIP".
Another mourner added: “Deeply shocked and saddened to have heard of Leah’s passing.
“Leah was a bundle of energy, not usually found in an accountants office and I’ll miss the morning chats that usually started with, ‘you’ll never guess what happened to me the weekend!’.
“I’ll admit there were times I envied her free-spiritedness. Leah struck me as the kind of person that no matter what time of day or night a friend texted her, she’d drop what she was doing to help them out. She will be missed". (All quotes according to The Irish Sun).
