Blondie singer Debbie Harry has cast doubt over the band's future.

The singer admitted that Blondie are experiencing a moment of limbo at present, with the death of drummer Clem Burke still quite raw.

Back in April, Clem Burke, who was hailed as "the heartbeat of Blondie", passed away from cancer aged 70. Burke had been recruited by Debbie Harry and bandmate Chris Stein, who both paid tribute to the drummer in a statement.

“His talent, energy, and passion for music were unmatched, and his contributions to our sound and success are immeasurable. Beyond his musicianship, Clem was a source of inspiration both on and off the stage. His vibrant spirit, infectious enthusiasm and rock solid work ethic touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Clem’s influence extended far beyond Blondie", they said. "I ran into a wall"

Speaking recently, Debbie Harry said that Burke's death has left things somewhat up in the air for the band.

"I ran into a wall: the [2024] tour ended, Clem died, and wow. What is this space I live in now?", Harry said. "I'm curing — I'm doing a cure. And part of that is de-cluttering up my space, which is crowded with that life. I need to get some breath, get some air in there. And I want to feel that little spark of creativity, surprise — those things. There's a little tingle of that, and I hope that will be there for me".

However, Harry did say that Blondie are to release a new album later this year, while she also claimed that she has been approached about a possible biopic and documentary.

"They're in the works," Harry said. "but I don't know how a life can be summarized or given a caption. I suppose there'll be something that's off the wall but will somehow work. I'm happy to be doing it — it's helping me to collect my thoughts".

April also saw the Sex Pistols pay tribute to Clem Burke while on stage in Australia. More on this here.
