Investigations Launched Into Cause Of Fire In Blanchardstown Apartments

Investigations are under way into the cause of a fire at the Falcon’s View complex apartment block in Blanchardstown.

The blaze broke out on a balcony on the eighth floor at around 4:30pm on Sunday at the building located beside the Crowne Plaza Hotel, close to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Both the apartment building and the hotel were evacuated while seven units of the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.

There were no injuries reported, however dozens of residents were unable to return to their homes today.

ESB Networks said 13 apartments remain without power as of 18:00 hours after the fire.

A fire officer with Dublin Fire Brigade said it is understood the fire began on a balcony on the eighth floor of the building and caused extensive damage to the apartment.
