Police in Spain are currently investigating the deaths of an Irish couple who were found dead in a jacuzzi at a Spanish resort.
According to reports, their two children alerted the homeowner after finding their bodies.
Homicide squad officers are leading the investigation, however police have stated that there is a possibility that they suffered an accident while they were in the jacuzzi.
Pablo Cea told the Irish Times that just because the local homicide unit is handling the case "does not mean this was a homicide. It could be an accident – every hypothesis is open for investigation.”
Their bodies were discovered yesterday afternoon in a residential estate called Cap Blanc in Cullera, a town of around 25,000 people south of Valencia.
“The bodies of a man aged 50 and a woman aged 45 were found yesterday at a residential property in the municipality of Cullera. Both were Irish. Their children discovered the bodies in a Jacuzzi and alerted the authorities," a spokesman for the Civil Guard in Valencia said.
A sample of the water in the jacuzzi was taken so it can be analysed in a specialist laboratory, according to reports.
The two children are aged 14 and 16 and are being cared for by social workers assisted by a psychologist.
