Bejamin Netanyahu has revealed that he underwent treatment for early stage prostate cancer.

The Israeli Prime Minister still insisted that he is "in excellent physical condition" after his annual medical report was submitted, revealing that he had a malignant tumour removed. This tumour was found during a routine medical check up in 2024, before a "a tiny spot of less than a centimetre" was discovered.

The news of Netanyahu's illness has only come to light after the Israeli leader had reportedly called for the publication of his health report to be delayed, so it was not released at the height of the US and Israel's war with Iran, and to prevent Tehran from spreading "even more false propaganda against Israel".

Following his procedure, Netanyahu has said that has been under constant medical supervision.

Mr Netanyahu has said that treatment had "removed the problem and left no trace of it".

"I had a minor medical issue with my prostate that was completely treated. Thank God, it's behind me", he said.

Mr Netanyahu went on to say that he decided to undergo the medical procedure because "when I'm given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately".

He continued: "This is true on the national level and also on the personal level".

The news regarding Benjamin Netanyahu comes as Israel's ceasefire agreement with Lebanon was extended by three weeks, following fighting between Israel and an Iran backed Hezbollah. It also comes ahead of his planned visit to the White House in the next few weeks, as the US looks to secure a long lasting deal in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Speaking of Trump, the US President's special envoy's recent suggestions that Italy could replace Iran at this Summer's World Cup was dismissed by Italian Sports Minister, Andrea Abodi.

Paolo Zampolli, Trump's special envoy had reportedly shared this suggestion with Mr Trump and the FIFA President, Gianni Infantino.

I'm an Italian native and it would be a dream to see the Azzurri at a US-hosted tournament. With four titles, they have the pedigree to justify inclusion", Zampolli said.

However, this was dismissed by Abodi, who said: "Firstly it is not possible, secondly it is not appropriate ... You qualify on ‌the pitch".

Many people could see this as an attempt by the US to mend fences between Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni who fell out with Trump over the US President's polemical remarks about Pope Francis XIV, where he claimed that the pope was "weak on crime, and terrible on foreign policy".
