Jack White has blasted the unveiling of a towering golden Donald Trump statue in Florida, describing it as “the most frustrating part of modern American life” in a furious social media post.
The former White Stripes frontman reacted after a 22-foot gold-coloured statue of the US President was unveiled at Trump’s Doral golf resort in Miami earlier this month during an event led by evangelical pastor Mark Burns.

The giant sculpture, nicknamed “Don Colossus”, depicts Trump raising his fist in the air following the attempted assassination attempt against him during a 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Sharing an image of the statue online, White wrote: “The most frustrating part of modern American life is the attempt to make sense of people who don’t even CARE that they make no sense at all.”
The image reposted by White included the caption: “MAGA Evangelical Leaders Gather in Mar-a-Largo to Bless and Dedicate a Gold Statue of Donald Trump.”

The controversial unveiling quickly sparked backlash online, with critics comparing the statue to the biblical “golden calf” — a symbol of false idol worship in the Old Testament.
Pastor Burns, however, rejected those accusations during an appearance on British radio station LBC, insisting the monument represented “the miracle of God” rather than idol worship.
“There is a major difference between worship and honor,” Burns later wrote on X.
“Across America, we have statues honoring presidents, generals, civil rights leaders, athletes, and cultural icons.”
He added that the statue was intended to symbolise “strength, resilience, courage, and leadership” rather than religious devotion.
According to reports in the US, the statue reportedly cost around $450,000 and was funded by a group of cryptocurrency investors connected to a “$PATRIOT” memecoin campaign.
White has become increasingly outspoken about American politics in recent years and has repeatedly criticised Trump publicly.

The musician — who previously served as an altar boy during his childhood — has also condemned Trump’s relationship with evangelical supporters and recently criticised AI-generated images shared by the President depicting himself as Jesus Christ.
In an earlier Instagram post, White wrote: “Hey evangelical Christians? Remember that anti-Christ you been squawking about all these years and how he’d present himself as Christlike and bring about the end of days with a final war in the Middle East involving Jerusalem? Well…check out your boy now!”
The latest comments add to growing criticism surrounding the statue, which has reignited debate in the US over political imagery, celebrity culture and the role of religion in modern American politics.
