Brad Pitt is returning to one of his most celebrated roles, but his next outing as Cliff Booth will look very different from the original film.
Netflix has unveiled the first-look images from The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, which sees director David Fincher take the reins from Quentin Tarantino for a sequel to Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.

Tarantino has written the screenplay, with Pitt and his producing partner Ceán Chaffin also producing the film.
The new story takes place in 1977, eight years after the events of the original film, which earned Pitt the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Cliff is no longer simply working as a stuntman. Instead, he has become a fixer, using his particular set of skills to deal with problems for some of Hollywood's biggest names.

The film follows Booth as he becomes involved with television star Charlie Peters, played by Scott Caan, after being contacted by Peters' talent agent, Karen Crosby, played by Elizabeth Debicki.
Carla Gugino plays Peters' wife, Toni, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II appears as former American football star turned actor Roderick Harrison.

The newly released images show Pitt's character in a variety of settings, including a demolition derby car, alongside Debicki and among the film's other central characters.
Fincher has suggested that the sequel will move away from the Hollywood nostalgia that defined its predecessor, describing the new film as an LA story rather than a story about the film industry itself.

Tarantino revealed that Pitt was the one who first suggested bringing Fincher on board.
“Brad got in touch with me and said, ‘Hey, what about David Fincher directing the Cliff Booth movie?’ I was like, ‘That's a fantastic idea.’ It was such a great idea that I couldn't imagine it happening. It was just too cool.”

The pairing brings together two filmmakers with very different but distinctive styles. Tarantino directed the original film, while Fincher is known for acclaimed titles including Se7en, Zodiac and The Social Network.
The original Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, released in 2019, starred Pitt alongside Leonardo DiCaprio as fading television actor Rick Dalton.
The film received 10 Academy Award nominations and won two Oscars, including Pitt's supporting actor award.
The sequel will focus on Booth rather than revisiting the same central partnership, with a new cast of characters and a crime-driven storyline.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will open in IMAX cinemas globally on November 25, before making its Netflix debut on December 23.
The theatrical release will run for two weeks, giving audiences the chance to see Fincher's latest film on the big screen before it arrives on the streaming service.
