James Lowe is set to leave both Leinster and Ireland behind after disappointing contract.

Lowe has played for Leinster Rugby 9 years ago, and began playing for Ireland in 2020 following 3 years of residency.  The winger quickly became a fan favorite.

Lowe has scored 17 tries in his 45 test matches for Ireland, and yet has never been on an IRFU contract. Despite this Lowe had previously stated his intent to play for Ireland in the 2027 world cup, calling it a "North Star" for players.

The Leinster provincial contract Lowe was supported by the IRFU who supplied a PONI (player of national interest) addition, however reports indicate that this was lower than in previous years. Meaning that was up to Leinster alone to cover Lowe's contract.

Lowe has made 7 appearances for the province this season, and the 33 year old has suffered multiple injuries.

At the end of the day Leinster decided to reduce their offer to Lowe in comparison to other seasons. Lowe felt the terms were not a good reflection of his quality and it is understood that contract discussions did not reach an agreement.

Lowe is set to make his 100th appearance for Leinster tonight against the Lions in the Aviva Stadium. The game will surely be watched by teams around the world as England, France and Japan have already expressed interest in James Lowe.
