Jessie Buckley has landed the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role at this year's Actor Awards for her role in Hamnet.
The ceremony, which was previously titled, the SAG Awards, is one of the awards ceremony which is closely monitored in the run up to the Oscars ceremony, a gong which Buckley has also been nominated for. It is voted for by members of the SAG-AFTRA actors' union.
Accepting her award, Jessie Buckley told the audience: "I have been categorically changed by so many people in this room and beyond".
"To get to work with my heart in my hand and stand beside my brilliant, daring friends who show me their heart, I mean, what a way to spend a life", she added.
Buckley also went on to pay tribute to her Hamnet co star, Emily Watson: "I’d like to say a special thank you to my incredible friend and date tonight, Emily Watson".
"Your wild imagination, your brave untethered womanhood and your ferocious gentleness have been a guiding light to me", she added. "You’re the realest of the real. I hope I can continue to offer something meaningful back".
Elsewhere on the night, Sinners won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, with just two weeks to go until the Oscars ceremony. Other big winners saw actor Michael B Jordan win Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.
Weapons star Amy Madigan won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, while Sean Penn won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for One Battle After Another. Penn did not attend the ceremony.
News of this comes after Jessie Buckley received her Oscars nod for her role in Hamnet. Should she win, the Kerry native would become the first Irish woman to win Best Actress at the Academy Awards. More on this story here.
