Joe Perry Hints at One Last Aerosmith Show — But Don’t Call It a Comeback (Yet)

Joe Perry isn’t ready to slam the book shut on Aerosmith just yet. Not completely. Not if Steven Tyler’s voice holds out.

In a new interview with Trunk Nation’s Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM, the guitarist left the door ever so slightly ajar for a proper goodbye gig — one final, definitive exhale from one of the last true American rock institutions.

“We talk probably a couple of times a week,” Perry said, referencing the still-intact bond between himself and Tyler. “We played together up at a charity up in San Francisco. Chris Robinson was on the bill too, and it was wild seeing the two of them trading licks.”

It’s worth stressing: this isn’t some premature comeback tour tease. Perry’s language remains cautious, but optimistic. “We're talking about it,” he said of a potential farewell show. “I mean, except for anything on the calendar, we're all alive and well, so we'll just have to see. I know there's gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig, and I'm not looking forward to putting the set list together for that one.”

It’s a practical realism born from experience. Aerosmith’s “Peace Out” tour collapsed after just three shows last year, cancelled due to Tyler’s serious vocal injury. Since then, he’s popped up only occasionally, performing at private events, most notably a Janie’s Fund benefit in April.

Still, Perry thinks he’s got it in him. “I think he would [be up to a full concert],” he added. “It’s just a matter of getting there. I mean, we’re up there, man. And it’s a lot.”

As for Perry himself? He’s far from done. Between a Hollywood Vampires documentary (“pretty amazing,” he says) and an August tour with the Joe Perry Project — featuring Brad Whitford, Chris Robinson, and members of Stone Temple Pilots — he’s keeping busy.

“I’ve got enough left in me,” he said. “I still wanna do [a final Aerosmith show]... so, we’ll see what happens.”
