U2 are set to perform an exclusive concert for BBC Music in November, ahead of the release of their highly anticipated new album, Carnaval De Luz.
The 22-time Grammy Award-winning Irish rock band will take to the stage at an indoor venue in central London on Tuesday, 3 November, performing in front of a select audience of fans. The setlist will feature a selection of tracks from their extensive back catalogue, alongside new material from their forthcoming studio album, the BBC confirmed.
A limited number of tickets are available through a ballot on the BBC Shows and Tours website. Applications will remain open until midnight on Thursday, 29 October. The exact location of the concert will be disclosed to successful ticket holders on the day of the event.
The announcement was first made by Jo Whiley on her BBC Radio 2 programme. The concert will later be broadcast on BBC Two in late November as part of a special evening of programming dedicated to U2.
Radio 2 listeners will also have the opportunity to hear the performance on Monday, 30 November, from 7pm to 9pm on Whiley's show. The broadcast will be accompanied by a new interview with the band and will also be available on BBC Sounds.
Whiley expressed her excitement about the upcoming event, praising the band's consistently outstanding live performances.
"Every time I see U2 perform, they're always incredible, giving 100% to each and every show," she said. "I can't wait to see what they have in store for us, and to share what I know will be a fantastic concert with listeners."
In addition to the concert, U2 will appear on Vernon Kay's BBC Radio 2 weekday programme for Tracks of My Years. During the feature, the four band members will each reflect on the music that has shaped their personal lives and careers by selecting ten influential songs.
The episode will be available on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer from 6am on Sunday, 15 November. It will also air during the week beginning Monday, 16 November, on Kay's show, with a further broadcast on BBC Two on the night of the concert special.
U2's new album, Carnaval De Luz, is scheduled for release on Friday, 13 November, marking the next chapter in the band's celebrated musical career.
