The classic guitar used by Kirk Hammett for Metallica’s track “One” is up for auction. It has also been signed by Hammett himself!

Hammett’s ESP 400 series instrument is said to be “excellent” condition. It is available to bid for on Heritage Auctions. The highest bid was placed this morning of nearly $40! The auction is open until April 11. You can bid for it here!

Check out their post on Twitter below.

“One” was also the first offical video ever made by Metallica, coming out in 1989. The track had previously featured on the band’s fourth studio album “And Justice For All”, released in 1988.

Hammett’s guitar: “Condition: Excellent”

Hammett’s signature can be found along the bottom of the natural solid body. The guitar also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and orginal hard case.

The description also states, “Very clean and all-original ESP Strat-style guitar. Has a 1 & 11/16th width nut on a rosewood slab neck. Signed on the body in silver ink by Kirk Hammett and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, also signed by Kirk Hammett. 7.90 lbs. Original hard case included. Condition: Excellent”.

“A band to reckon with”

As well as their tweet, Heritage also had this to say on Hammett’s guitar.

“Shot in black and white and splicing footage and audio from the 1971 film Johnny Got His Gun, the ‘One’ video was a staple on MTV”.

They continued, “But it wasn’t just a Headbanger’s Ball staple, it was on MTV during the daytime in between videos from U2, Debbie Gibson, and Bon Jovi”.

“It was an intense proclamation that showed Metallica was going to be a band to reckon with in the mainstream in the years to come”.

Meanwhile, Kirk Hammett also looks set to appear on Carlos Santana’s upcoming album. You can check out that report here.

It would also appear that a collaboration between Metallica and Elton John is also on the horizon. More here.
