The 12″ – which also features ‘The Recap’ – is available to pre-order now.
A new 12″ vinyl release from KNEECAP is on the way – featuring ‘Sayõnara’, their upcoming collaboration with Paul Hartnoll of Orbital, as well as their latest single, ‘The Recap’, featuring Mozey. It will also include instrumentals of both tracks.
According to Tower Records’ website – where it’s currently available to pre-order – the 12″ will be released on October 10.
‘Sayõnara’ got its live debut at Glastonbury earlier this summer, in front of a crowd of approximately 30,000 people in the packed out West Holts area.
Orbital’s track ‘Belfast’ – which originally featured on their 1991 III EP – appeared in the soundtrack of the Kneecap film last year. Following that experience, Hartnoll says he was ‘delighted to be asked by the lads to help them make a rave festival banger.’
‘They loved the track and did it proud with their lyrics – it was all so easy and natural, just as a good collaboration should be,’ he continues. ‘Hopefully, you’ll be lucky enough to be in a field this summer and hear it in its natural habitat, big, loud, and unashamed!’
In the current Electric Picnic Special Issue of Hot Press, KNEECAP’s DJ Próvaí also discussed the upcoming ‘Sayõnara’ single:
‘We were looking to do a nostalgic ’90s-style dance thing and had got a really good response to Orbital being on the Kneecap movie soundtrack, so it was a no-brainer really. When they played in Belfast, myself and Peadar, who’s one of our team, went and had a chat with Paul over coffee and scones. We gave him an idea, which he fucking nailed, and people at the shows have been dancing their arses off to it.’
