A replacement bus service will be provided for passengers affected by the disruption, with buses serving stops between Heuston and Tallaght or Saggart in both directions.
According to Luas, replacement buses will operate approximately every 15 minutes on both days. Passengers must have a valid Luas ticket, a TFI Leap Card or a Public Services Card with Free Travel to use the service.
Luas said the engineering work was necessary to maintain the network, explaining that “these works are essential to the operation of the Luas system and ensure we deliver a safe, reliable tram service to Luas customers.”
The operator also warned that the work could cause noise at times due to the presence of workers, vehicles and machinery.
Normal Red Line services are expected to resume on Monday, October 19. Passengers are encouraged to check the TFI Journey Planner before travelling to identify alternative routes and minimise delays.
The planned disruption comes following a series of power-related incidents affecting Luas services in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, a power failure caused services to be suspended initially between Blackhorse and Connolly/The Point, before the disruption was extended across the entire Red Line.
The incident was the second power-related problem to affect the network in just over a week. A separate fault at the end of September also forced the suspension of Green Line services through Dublin city centre.
Commuters are advised to check for travel updates before setting out and allow additional time for their journeys over the weekend.
