Malahide Beach has received a Do Not Swim notice.

This ban was issued by Fingal County Council yesterday, and will remain effective for at least three days.

While it will remain open to the public, people have been asked to respect this swim ban.

The notice from Fingal County Council states the following: "Following notification this evening from Uisce Éireann of an overflow at the Malahide Waste Water Treatment Plant, a DO NOT SWIM notice has been issued for Malahide Beach in consultation with the HSE".

"The notice will remain in place for at least 3 days. Resampling of the water is being arranged with results likely to be received later this week.

"While the beach is still open to the public, beach users are asked to respect the ‘Do Not Swim’ notice as it has been put in place to ensure that the health of bathers is not compromised", (quotes according to Dublin Live).
