A man has appeared in court charged with assault causing serious harm following a fatal stabbing in Dublin.

19-year-old Eric Farrell, with an address at Castlepark, Tallaght, appeared before Dublin District Court this evening.

Mr. Farrell appeared before Judge John Hughes this afternoon charged in connection with the fatal attack on 45-year-old Ionel Nicolae Diaconu at the same address in Tallaght.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 9pm Monday where the 45-year-old was later pronounced dead.

The metal fabricator made no comment during the brief hearing today, during which he was granted legal aid.

Judge Hughes remanded Mr. Farrell in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next Wednesday, the 20th of December.

An application for bail was made, with no objections. The second young man arrested in connection with the attack has been released without charge.
