Martin Short's daughter, Katherine Hartley Short, has died aged 42.
Katherine, was the eldest of three children that the actor and comedian adopted with actress and singer, Nancy Dolman. Her death was confirmed by her family in a statement, who said that they were "devastated by this loss", and have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
They also said that Katherine "was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world".
While she was occasionally seen out with her father at events, Katherine who was a social worker, largely kept out of the public eye, along with her brothers, Oliver and Henry.
In the wake of this tragic news, Martin Short has postponed a number of live shows with his long term comedy partner, Steve Martin. Their show, which was scheduled to take place on Friday, 27 February, has been postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances", according the Miller High Life Theatre in Milwaukee, while Hennepin Arts said that the pair's show in Minneapolis on Saturday, 28 February, has been called off.
Martin Short, who is known for Father of the Bride, The Three Amigos, and Innerspace, has been nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series at this weekend's Actors Awards for his role as Oliver Putnam in Only Murders in the Building.
