It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 20 year years since Cool Runnings hits the screens.
One of John Candy’s last films, it made Jimmy Cliff’s cover of “I Can See Clearly Now” a hit all over the world and Rawle D. Lewis (who played Junior Bevil) and Doug E. Doug (Sanka Coffie) shot to instant fame as stars of the popular film about Jamaica’s unexpected participation in the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
The duo slid into town to appear at the Coors Light sponsored Après Dublin, a custom-built Ski Lodge to Dublin’s IFSC at Custom House Quay, and your Man at the Movies caught up with them for a chat about the film that made us all laugh out loud!

Making its debut in Dublin, Après Dublin will comprise of the Après LODGE, a first-of-its-kind Christmas party venue in Dublin. The large-scale transformation will see the 900sqm event platform turned into a giant custom-built ski lodge in Dublin’s city centre. The Après LODGE will offer a truly unique festive party experience, with delicious food options alongside an in-house DJ and live Après Ski band to provide a highly memorable night out for friends and the backdrop for an office Christmas party like no other.
Other special music guests will include Attention Bebe, Reality Bites, Cosmic Funk, Smooth Sailor and Spring Break all ready to bring the hits throughout Après Dublin’s run. Coors Light will be on hand throughout to provide cold, crisp refreshment straight from the Rockies to all après revellers.
The highlight of the launch, however, will be the reunion of two of the cast of Cool Runnings, as Coors Light invites fans to #GRABLIFEBYTHEROCKIES with the opportunity to meet and pose for photos with the iconic actors, including the opportunity to get into an empty bathtub and recreate one of the movie’s most iconic scenes.
Après Dublin in association with Coors Light runs till December 23rd. To find out more and to book tickets, visit www.Aprèsdublin.com
