Metallica have announced a huge residency at the Las Vegas Sphere for 2026.
The band will take to the stage for an eight date run at the venue, with the residency being titled, 'Life Burns Faster'. This residency will run across four weeks, taking place on October 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31.
Metallica have been teasing this residency for a while, having previously hinted that they were close to agreeing a deal to play this residency in 2027.
According to a source in The Sun, “Metallica having a residency at the Sphere is all anyone is talking about on the Strip, they have been to see the bosses and met all the tech team to talk through and plan out a show in principle".
They added: “The contracts are still to be signed but we were told they are 90 per cent there. Metallica will bring a different feel to a show there and there is a lot of excitement from bosses at the Sphere about what this could look like". More on this from Nova here.
Metallica will continue their 'No Repeat Weekend' tradition at this residency, which began at their 'M72 World Tour', which will see no songs repeated on each Thursday and Saturday of these shows.
“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!", co founder and drummer Lars Ulrich said. “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next-level!”.
The Sphere's residency will also feature “live staples and surprises spanning the Metallica catalogue enhanced by the venue’s immersive technologies that will allow fans to experience the sound and fury of the band’s live performance in new experiential dimensions”, with the shows are to “present a wholly unique and entirely new Metallica experience for all who attend”.
The residency will include technology such as the world's highest LED display which wraps over and around the audience.
Tickets will go on general sale at 10am PT next Friday (March 6).
