Morrissey has cancelled his shows celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘You Are The Quarry’, due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The former Smiths singer was pencilled into perform two shows in California to commemorate the studio album from 2004.

He was due to play at Anaheim, California’s Honda Center, and the following day, on at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on January 27.

“Unforeseen circumstances”

However, both stadiums have subsequently confirmed that Morrissey has pulled the plug on these shows, citing “unforeseen circumstances”, adding that “tickets will be automatically refunded to purchasers”.

Check out both posts for yourselves below.

This is not the first time that Morrissey has cancelled shows.

Last April, the musician cancelled his concert at London’s Crystal Palace on July 9, before announcing a tour of Ireland and the UK during the same month of the Palace show.

On July 9 itself, Morrissey also pulled the plug on another show at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall, with the singer citing “unforeseen circumstances” in both cases.

Morrissey Says Been ‘Deleted’ From The ‘Essence’ Of The Smiths

Earlier this month, Morrissey stated that he feels he has been “deleted” from the “essence” of his former band, the Smiths.

In a message posted via his website Morrissey Central, the musician claimed that his contributions to the band had been downplayed in several media reports.

“There is also an obvious media shift to delete me from being the central essence of The Smiths,” he began, “but this cannot work because I invented the group name, the song-titles, the album titles, the artwork, the vocal melodies, and all of the lyrical sentiments came from my heart”.

Morrissey also compared this to Mick Jagger’s contributions being taken away from the Rolling Stones.

“And so it’s a bit like saying Mick Jagger had nothing to do with the Stones”, the former Smiths singer said.
