Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has filed for divorce from his wife Elle Evans, just two days after their seventh wedding anniversary.
The 48-year-old singer submitted a petition for dissolution of marriage at Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, August 12, citing “irreconcilable differences”, according to legal documents reviewed by the Daily Mail and reports from TMZ.

The couple married on August 11, 2019, after becoming engaged in 2017. They have two children together, six-year-old daughter Lovella and two-year-old son George.
Bellamy is seeking sole legal and physical custody of both children as part of the divorce proceedings.
However, Evans has reportedly said she intends to fight for custody of their children. Speaking to TMZ, the 36-year-old model and actress described the breakdown of their marriage as “insupportable” and said the divorce filing was “long overdue”.

Bellamy is also asking the court to award spousal support to Evans in accordance with the prenuptial agreement they signed before their marriage.
The legal documents list the couple’s date of separation as “to be determined”. However, Bellamy previously confirmed that they had separated in summer 2025.
Speaking to The i Paper in June, the Muse singer described the split as the result of “a really unexpected set of circumstances”.
“It’s the kind of thing that nobody really prepares for in life,” he said.

Bellamy said the situation had been destabilising and that he had needed to prioritise his children and the stability of his home.
The couple had been together for around eight years before their reported separation.
Before his relationship with Evans, Bellamy was in a long-term relationship with psychologist Gaia Polloni. He later became engaged to actress Kate Hudson in 2011, and the couple welcomed their son, Bingham, before separating in 2014.
Bellamy began dating Evans in 2015 and the pair became engaged in 2017. They married in August 2019 and went on to welcome Lovella and George.

The divorce proceedings now mark the formal end of their seven-year marriage.
