Neil Young has shared his new anti-Trump protest track, 'Big Crime'.
Young who has been a longstanding critic of the Trump administration, released this track, which was first aired with the singer's band The Chrome Hearts in Chicago's Huntington Bank Pavilion last week.
The song appears to take aim at Donald Trump's recent declaration of a "crime emergency" in Washington DC, where he placed the district's police department under federal control. He also deployed approximately 800 National Guard troops, along with FBI and ICE agents to the area last month.
The lyrics were subsequently posted by Young on his Neil Young Archives website, along with the soundtrack's audio.
“No more great again / There’s big crime in DC at the White House”, he sings. “Don’t need no fascist rules / Don’t want no fascist schools / Don’t want soldiers on our streets / There’s big crime in DC at the White House”, Young sings.
'Big Crime' has since been shared to all streaming platforms. Listen to it yourselves here.
Neil Young is not the first musician to call out the Donald Trump administration, with Bruce Springsteen calling out the president at concert in Manchester earlier this year, branding the administration "treasonous" while also hitting out at its "corruption" and "incompetence".
Reacting to this, Trump branded Springsteen a "dried out prune of a rocker", and an "overrated musician", before going on to warn the singer to "keep his mouth shut". He then went on to call for a "major investigation" into Springsteen and other musicians who supported Democratic Kamala Harris at last year's election. More on this here.
