Novak Djokovic Wins Longest Quarter Final In Wimbledon History After Epic Auger-Aliassime Clash

Novak Djokovic secured place in his eight straight semi finals of Wimbledon following an epic win over Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime after five sets,  7-6(10) 3-6 6-3 6-7(4) 7-6(10-4), in what was the longest quarter final match ever played at Wimbledon.

The Number 7 seed found a way to eek out a victory and a place in last four, where he will play reigning champion, Jannik Sinner.

Djokovic took the opening set following a long tie break, after Auger-Aliassime sent a volley long, a set which the Canadian ought to have won, but he hit back in the second set to win 6-3, serving set following a double fault by Djokovic.


Following this, the Centre Court roof was closed at around 7.40om local time, leading to complaints from Djokovic. However, he regained his composure to win the third set 6-3.

Despite despite losing an opening service game and hitting his chair with a racket in frustration, Auger-Aliassime composed himself to win the fourth set following another tie break.

The final set saw the pair hold serve for 12 games straight, until Djokovic managed to finally break his opponent's resistance in the tie break to win the match, leading to huge applause from the thrilled and entertained Wimbledon crowd in what was an epic encounter.
