Paul McCartney has teased a return of The Beatles' 'Anthropology' project.

This comes after the Beatles legend shared a cryptic post via Instagram, which seemed to indicate that the series may return. A series of images were shared online, with each one containing the isolated numbers one, two, three and four.

This post, which you can check out below, did not include a caption, or writing. But it did include each of the numbers from The Beatles' three volume double set of albums inside.

As expected, this got fans' tongues wagging, especially in the comments section, with some convinced that this post hints at the return of the 'Anthropology', a multi media project which was curated by the band members, encompassing their albums, live versions, unreleased material, alternate takes, outtakes, and previously unseen interviews and images.

The original series, which arrived in November 1995, was titled 'Anthropology 1', arriving at the same time as a documentary with interviews with the band members and archival footage of both live performances and rehearsals.

This was followed by two more albums, 'Anthropology 2' and 'Anthropology 3', which arrived a year later.

As expected, this led to a myriad of comments online, including  “anthology 4 confirmed???” one wrote, while another added: “An anthology boxset? ‘Free as a bird’ and ‘Real love’ with the voice of John cleaned? Anthology 4?”.
