Paul McCartney performed at a private fundraiser for the US Democratic Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton last night.
The Beatles musician performed a four song set, including Wings hit ‘Jets’, followed by Beatles songs ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ and ‘Lady Madonna.’
McCartney wasn’t the only performer of the night – Bon Jovi sang ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’ and also joined Buffett for a performance of Van Morrisson’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ and ‘Margaritaville’. Buffett’s set, which reportedly lasted more than an hour, also included “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”
Paul McCartney’s set ended with him being joined by Buffett and Bon Jovi for a rendition of ‘Hey Jude.’ McCartney joked that “this is the first time that I’ve paid to hear myself sing”, which was in reference to the event’s tickets, which were reported to be $25,000 a ticket.
Various reports have also suggested that McCartney announced at the fundraiser that he had officially funded the Democrat’s campaign. Earlier in the month, the Beatles musician showed his support for the Presidential candidate over Donald Trump on Twitter, posting a picture with the tagline “She’s with me,” which was in reference to Clinton’s campaign slogan.
The event, which was held at Buffett’s estate in Sag Harbor, was also attended by Clinton’s husband – and former US President – Bill Clinton.
