Irish actor, Paul Mescal is to present an award at next week's Oscar's ceremony.
The Maynooth native will join Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will Arnett, Anne Hathaway, and Priyanka Chopra Jones as presenters of awards on the night, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed.
Other presenters announced also include, Kieran Culkin, Adrien Brody, Javier Bardem, Chase Infiniti, Chris Evans, Maya Rudolph, Kumail Nanjiani, and Zoe Saldana. More Oscars presenters will be announced in the coming days.
Mescal had missed out on a nomination for this year's ceremony, despite co starring alongside Jessie Buckley in the Chloe Zhao directed, Hamnet, which saw the Kerry native nominated in the Best Actress category.
Should she prevail, Buckley would become the first Irish woman to win Best Actress at the Academy Awards. More on this here.
Hosted by Conan O'Brien, this year's Oscar's ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood next Sunday (March 15).
As for Hamnet, the film which explores the grief that William Shakespeare encounters following the death of his 15 year old son, was nominated for eight Oscars this year, including Buckley's nod for Best Actress, an accolade she is favourite to win, having scooped up the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading role at this year's Actor Awards earlier this month.
Elsewhere, vampire thriller, Sinners broke the record for the all time Oscars' nominations, having received 16 Academy Award nominations, including a Best Director nod for Ryan Coogler, alongside Chloé Zhao.
Meanwhile, Irish animated short film, Retirement Plan and Irish animator Richard Baneham received an Oscars nomination for his work on Avatar: Fire and Ash. Baneham who is already a double Oscar winner for his work on Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, was nominated in the Visual Effects category for his latest work.
