A "phenomenal actor" is to star as Ozzy Osbourne in a biopic about the late singer, his son Jack has announced.

The film is set to still tell the story of Ozzy and his wife and manager, Sharon, which is to be written by Oscar nominee Lee Hall, as well as being developed by Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment.

Osbourne passed away last July aged 76, just weeks after the Black Sabbath played their last ever show in Birmingham as part of their 'Back To The Beginning' at Villa Park. The singer was laid to rest as his fans left flowers and message to him.

A month later, Osbourne was honoured by his beloved Aston Villa at their opening Premier League game. More on this from Nova here.

"We are in full steam"

Now, speaking to Billy Morrison's SiriusXM show, Jack Osbourne shared exciting news about this new film.

“We are in full steam in the next phase of development with this movie,” he said. “That’s an acted movie that we’ve been developing with Sony studios for, like, six years already".

Asked about who will play the great man, Jack added: “We have our decided pick, and I can’t say anything [yet], but it’s a phenomenal, phenomenal actor", adding:“We have a director attached, and we’re doing a rewrite right now".

When it was put to him that Ozzy would  “get a kick out of” having a film made about him, Jack replied: “Oh, he would. I’d give him updates: ‘Oh, we met with this guy’ and ‘This is happening’".

He added: “And he just would go, ‘I don’t give a shit. Just tell me when it’s out so I can go see it’".

This comes a month after Share had said that her "main" goal was to finish the biopic.

“We have a deal, and we’re looking for people to work on the movie now", she said.

Jack Osbourne also claimed that his late father has appeared in the dreams of multiple members of his family.

“We all keep having dreams about him. In the dreams, he is laughing,” Jack said. “And he is saying, ‘Just stop f—ng crying’. He’s laughing every time. Me and my wife, my daughters, all the same thing. We keep seeing him in our dreams, laughing".
