Kate Middleton has revealed that she is undergoing treatment for cancer.
The Princess of Wales announced this news in a hugely emotional video shared on social media.
It is also understood that William and Kate’s three children have began Easter school holidays, taking advantage of the chance to shield them from any media coverage of their mother’s health.
King Charles who is also receiving cancer treatment, has been informed of her daughter-in-law’s health.
“incredibly tough”
Calling her diagnosis a “huge shock”, Kate revealed that her family have also experienced an “incredibly tough couple of months”.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous”, the Princess of Wales said in the video.
“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time”.

“getting stronger every day”
Despite this, the Princess of Wales has also said that she underwent “preventative chemotherapy” in late February, adding that she is “well and getting stronger every day”.
While sitting on a bench, casually dressed, Kate Middleton also added this.
“It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK”, she said.
“As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits”.
This will go some way to putting an end weeks of intense speculation, and conspiracy theories which have been doing the rounds on social media, regarding Kate’s health and whereabouts.
The Princess of Wales’ length of treatment remains unknown, but she may attend events as and when she feels able to, subject to medical advice.
