A reward has been offered for information on an abandoned monkey that was found on a London bus.
The reward of up to £3,000 (€3,509) has been offered in search for any information on the female common marmoset's owner or how she ended up on the London bus.
According to reports, a mother was unable to move her buggy down the aisle of the bus as laundry bag was in her way. The bus driver tried to move the laundry bag out of the way when the monkey started "chirping and jumping."
The monkey has been rehomed at a sanctuary. Animal charity Peta is offering the reward to find whoever abandoned her.
Chief Inspector Dew said the force would examine CCTV and passenger records from the bus to identify the person responsible for leaving her onboard, stating: "It was clearly intentional."
Peta Vice-President of Programmes Elisa Allen said via RTE that the organisation is asking for anyone with information to come forward "so that whoever abandoned Oyster can be held accountable before endangering anyone else".
"Abandoning an animal is an extraordinary betrayal. This monkey deserved care and protection, not to be discarded like rubbish," she continued.
