Welsh football club, Wrexham secured their second consecutive promotion over the weekend, and co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been left savouring the moment.

The Hollywood actors bought the club in 2021, and have overseen their side managed by Phil Parkinson win two promotions from the National League to League 1, with their second promotion secured following a 6-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

Following their victory on Saturday, Wrexham fans poured onto the pitch to celebrate with the team.

Reflecting on the news, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds said that he cried “tears of joy” following Wrexham’s victory, while McElhenney said that he had “no words”.

This promotion comes almost a year to the day that the club secured promotion to League Two last season.

“This is the ride of our lives”

Reacting to the Wrexham’s latest success on X, Ryan Reynolds called it “the ride of our lives”.

“A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney”, he said.

“Congrats to Wrexham and to my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives”.

Along with a heart emoji, Rob McElhenney added that there are “No words”.

The Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator also praised Wrexham striker Paul Mullin, whose goals have played a key part in the club’s success, including a brace in Saturday’s victory over Forest Green.

McElhenney who let Mullin recover at his home after he sustained a nasty injury against Manchester United in their Pre Season tour last Summer, added, “This may be my favourite goal of his. Not a game winner or anything fancy. Just perseverance, hustle and grit”.
“@PMullin7 knows the people in that stadium didn’t pay their hard-earned wage to watch guys give 95%. They deserve 100% and he gives it to them All. The. Time”.
Wrexham’s side also includes Irish pair James McClean who retired from international football last year, and former Celtic player Eoghan O’Connell, cousin of Irish rugby coach Paul O’Connell.
