Blur’s Damon Albarn has blasted the crowd’s lack of enthusiasm during the opening weekend of Coachella.

Blur had been performing during the festival’s Saturday night slot on the main stage.

However, the crowd appeared disinterested in Albarn and co, who were slotted between 90s act Sublime and No Doubt.

As the show went on, Blur performed a range of tracks from throughout their career, as well as from their latest album, The Ballad of Darren, with frontman Albarn growing increasingly annoyed the with crowd’s apathy.

“walking out”

This frustration reached boiling point when Albarn attempted to lead the audience on a singalong to their 90s hit ‘Girls & Boys’.

Albarn encouraged the crowd to sing “ow, ow, ow”, which was met with a slightly subdued response from the fans, with only few participating in this singalong.

Following this, Damon Albarn muttered he was “walking out”, before leading the fans on another chorus, which was met with a similar result.

At this point, Albarn told the audience, “You’ll never see us again so you might as well f****** sing it”.

In a previous post, Damon Albarn had praised the festival, revealing that it even inspired Gorillaz’ hit ‘Feel Good Inc’.

Last week, Liam Gallagher even named his favourite track from Blur. More on this here.
