U2’s Adam Clayton And Wife Mariana Announce Divorce

U2’s Adam Clayton and wife Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have announced plans to divorce following 10 years of marriage.

The pair confirmed plans to end their marriage, having tied the knot in September 2013 in Dublin, followed by a ceremony in France days later.

They share one daughter Alba, who was born in July 2017.

“Adam and Mariana Clayton are delighted to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl Alba”, a statement released at the time read.

Despite their split, Clayton and de Carvalho who is a lawyer, have called this divorce “amicable”.

Confirming this news, a statement was released.

“After more than ten years of marriage, musician Adam Clayton and lawyer Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have amicably divorced”, a spokesperson said.

“Both will continue to be fully involved in the care of their daughter and they request that the family’s privacy be respected”. 

Adam Clayton was a founding member of the Irish band U2, which were formed in 1976.

News of this comes weeks after U2 wrapped up their huge residency at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. Their final night saw the band pay tribute to drummer Larry Mullen Jr, who missed the shows due to neck surgery. More on that here.
