Roy Keane has shared the "romantic" motto that he lives by when it comes to his loving wife Theresa.

The former Rep of Ireland captain, has been married to Theresa Doyle for 28 years. The couple share five children, Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna.

Speaking with Jamie Redknapp, who referred to him as Uncle Roy, Keane took on the role of 'Agony Aunt', and offered advice to those dealing with "tough life-altering problems".

One such question was posed by one fan: "My wife tells me I need to be more romantic and thoughtful. Any tips?'".

Following this, Redknapp asked "Are you romantic?", which Keane offered his customary straight talking response to: "No, not really. You can't be someone you're not".

Asked if he buys his wife flowers: Keane said: "Every now and again. Once every six months, is that enough?", before claiming that the flowers are very expensive where he comes from.

Keane added: "I've a saying, and my wife doesn't like this, "Treat them mean, keeps them keen". This comment impressed Jamie Redknapp, who even hinted that he may start to use the phrase himself.
The former footballer also insisted that you should "just be yourself", and that the day to day actions are what matters. He also believes that people buying the flowers and chocolates are the ones to watch!
It has also been confirmed that Roy Keane and Roddy Doyle are to take their in conversation event to Belfast and Dublin in 2026. More on this from Nova here.
