Ryan Reynolds has confirmed there will be another Deadpool film.
The actor previously suggested that the idea of a new film was not on the cards, however, Reynolds has recently revealed plans for a new film.
Reynolds has played the legendary character for several iconic films and is set to reprise the character in the upcoming film 'Avengers: Doomsday'.
“There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics. There’s certainly some stuff that, you know, I love that Fabian Nicieza [co-creator of Deadpool] wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer. There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great," the actor shared onstage via a video posted to X.
The actor failed to reveal any additional information on whether the film would be another solo Deadpool movie or an ensemble film.
The Hollywood Reporter (THR) discovered last year that Reynolds was exploring ideas for another film in the franchise, although it would feature X-Men characters.
Speaking to THR in 2024, Reynolds said that “centering Deadpool works best if you take everything away from him and put his back against the wall. I can’t really do that again. A fourth time feels a little iterative and redundant. That doesn’t mean sacrificing fun. There is still an arc for Deadpool which is fulfilling and powerful.”
Reynolds then proposed to THR that Deadpool works well with the X-Men and Avengers but "he always needs to stay an outsider."
“His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humour works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies. If and when he does become an Avenger or X-Man, we’re at the end of his journey," Reynolds said via THR.
Reynolds revealed that he has "some stuff kind of written" but he doesn't think he will ever "centre him again." “He is a supporting character. He is a guy who is great in a group," Reynolds said via the Sunday Today.
