Singer Sam Fender is to headline next year's Glastonbury festival, according reports.
The Seventeen Going Under singer is said to be "over the moon" after being reportedly named as a headline act for the festival next June, ahead of the official line up announcement next spring. But he has apparently been unable to keep the news to himself.
"Sam is over the moon, it's a major milestone in his career and he's so excited he's even been telling his neighbours", a source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
It was also reported that a close friend of Fender's, Lewis Capaldi had been campaigning for the singer to land the much sought after headline slot.
Another source also told the outlet: "Lewis has been gunning for Sam to get the headline slot. He's been bringing Sam on stage at his gigs just to get him more out there and more talked-about". (All quotes according to the Mail on Sunday).
Prior to this, Sam Fender had performed on Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in 2022, having previously pulled out of the festival three years earlier due to illness.
This also comes as tickets for Glastonbury 2027, with a reported capacity of 210,000, sold out in just 42 minutes last weekend.
Last month, festival co owner, Emily Eavis had seemed to dismiss reports that Oasis were also set to headline at the Worthy Farm event next year.
At the time, Eavis had responded to a comment about whether the Gallaghers and co would perform at the venue next year, with one fan writing: "Please say you've got Oasis".
Eavis replied: “Sorry Jimmy, not this time!”. More on this from Nova here.
